DiCaprio Bootle

Raise your hand if you thought Bootle was going to make the active roster either this season or last season. That might not include everyone, but a significant number of people believed Bootle to be on the verge of making this Chiefs team out of camp before, so it seems silly that the Chiefs wouldn’t bring him back again.

Perhaps the Chiefs are hanging Bootle out to dry on waivers because they’re already aware that he’s not as valuable in the eyes of other teams. The Chiefs ended up keeping nine of 10 drafted rookies on the active roster, which is either a sign of the quality they believe they have or a bit of apprehension about whether they’d make it through waivers.

Either way, every team will stash multiple defensive backs on their practice squads which means Bootle absolutely has a lot of value to the Chiefs at this stage. The former Nebraska player will likely play at least one or more games for the team this year after appearing in three last season.
