Cornerbacks: L’Jarius Sneed, Trent McDuffie, Joshua Williams, Jaylen Watson, Rashad Fenton, Chris Lammons

The Chiefs have every reason to be excited about their cornerback room for the long-term but it’s a young group that will likely experience some growing pains in 2022. L’Jarius Sneed, Rashad Fenton (barring an unexpected turn for the worse with his groin injury), Trent McDuffie, and Joshua Williams are set to be the primary corners on the team this season. I also have seen enough from Jaylen Watson to believe that he’s safe from final cuts and could also play a special teams role. Chris Lammons is in a good position to make it a special teamer.

Safeties: Justin Reid, Juan Thornhill, Bryan Cook, Deon Bush

No position saw more change on the Chiefs’ defense this offseason than the safety group. Justin Reid, Juan Thornhill, and Bryan Cook are pretty much locked in, while I think that Deon Bush has played well enough this preseason to make the team. He is also experienced on special teams and I believe Andy Reid, Steve Spagnuolo, and Dave Toub will value a player who can play roles on both defense and special teams. I anticipate that Zayne Anderson has a chance to make the team but the Chiefs only carried more than four safeties at a time last season when there was an injury somewhere in the secondary.

Special Teamers: Harrison Butker, Tommy Towsend, James Winchester

Not much to say here. All three of these players will absolutely be on the active roster to start the season.
