Jarrad Davis, Linebacker, Detroit Lions

The Chiefs clearly love their starters at linebacker. Nick Bolton and Willie Gay Jr. will be the main contributors at the linebacker position. The depth, however, is somewhat lacking. Despite adding Elijah Lee and Jermaine Carter in the offseason, there is no clear winner as the main reserve linebacker. Jarrad Davis would make for an excellent addition if he is released.

Davis has a similar skill set to that of former Chief Reggie Ragland. With the ability to fill gaps and fly downhill, Davis is certainly capable in the run game. While not overly athletic, Davis would make a great addition to the base. His status with the Lions is about 50/50. It might be just as worth it for them to hold on to him for the season. If he is let go, the Chiefs should give him an opportunity.

Jabril Cox, Linebacker, Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys threw a lot of new guys in the mix at linebacker this season. They will certainly take the best players into the regular season, the question will be as to whether that includes Jabril Cox or not. Cox, although very athletically gifted, the Kansas City native has not seen the field as often as one might hope as a former fourth-round pick.

With the additions of Anthony Barr and a handful of rookies, Cox could be on the outside looking in. If so, the Chiefs would be wise to pursue the potential that Cox has. With good pass defense, Cox could even be a rotational dime linebacker for the Chiefs.

Eric Wilson, Linebacker, New Orleans Saints

It is likely that Eric Wilson will be one of the last players in or out for the Saints. That being said, it seems likely that Wilson will stick around for this season in New Orleans. On the offhand chance that they decide to move on, the Chiefs would be wise to add him to the fold.

Although never truly a starter, Wilson has had a role to play. If the Chiefs felt the need to add a player with more speed than that of Jermaine Carter and a similar skillset, Willson would make a lot of sense.
