Nathan Shepherd, Defensive Tackle, New York Jets
The New York Jets have not been the epitome of success in what seems like a century but they have some serious talent in the trenches. In Robert Saleh’s second season, his decisions in roster building have gotten more difficult. After bringing in Solomon Thomas and Sheldon Rankins, it appears that Nathan Shepherd faces an uphill battle to make this roster.
The Chiefs, however, have a rotating door at the spot opposite of Chris Jones. While Derrick Nnadi is almost certainly going to take the primary role, the Chiefs have some decisions to make regarding Khalen Saunders, Danny Shelton, and Taylor Stallworth. If Nathan Shepherd becomes available, they might just bring him in for depth as a more surefire contributor.
Antwaun Woods, Defensive Tackle, Arizona Cardinals
At 29, Antwaun Woods seems to be entering the later part of his career relatively soon. Woods has been a journeyman to this point but has carved out a role at each stop. Now, with the Arizona Cardinals, Woods faces a serious challenge to make the roster.
With the Chiefs, Woods would be a nice rotational piece that could be a comparable option to Taylor Stallworth. If the Chiefs decide to move on from Stallworth, Woods could be an option to replace him.
Renell Wren, Defensive Tackle, Philadelphia Eagles
Former Arizona State Sun Devil, Renell Wren looks to jumpstart his career with a new start in Philadelphia. The problem is, Philly is loaded with top-end talent at interior defensive line. A former fourth-round pick, Wren could be the kind of player that intrigues the Chiefs from a depth perspective.
Wren has had a slow start to his career, but the potential is there. Wren is versatile and could be moved around. He is not only capable of playing different spots, he has the functional motor and strength to eventually be productive. If they like his upside, the Chiefs could be a landing spot.
