3. Corey Coleman

Former first-round pick Corey Coleman, who signed with the Chiefs in March, is another player who has spent the majority of the offseason flying under the radar.

JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdez-Scantling, Skyy Moore, and Justin Watson have stolen the spotlight in the receiving room. Throw somebody like Mecole Hardman—who has three years in this system under his belt—into the mix, and life becomes hard for the Corey Coleman’s of the world.

The Chiefs are in an interesting position in regards to pass catchers, as they have great depth at tight end and wide receiver alike. Given Andy Reid’s tendencies in the red zone, it seems safe to assume that the team will carry four tight ends into the regular season. A move that would significantly limit opportunities for a wideout on the bubble.

Coleman clearly wasn’t willing to let the season pass him by, however, as he shined on special teams Thursday night. It may be the only way he can make a legitimate impact this year, but his athleticism and speed would add awesome depth in the return game.

Isiah Pacheco currently holds the starting kick return responsibilities, and Skyy Moore has taken the majority of first half punt returns in the preseason, but Coleman had a 45-yard kickoff return and a 17-yard punt return in the preseason finale. His efforts on special teams may have very well earned him a spot on the final roster.
