#4: Jerrion Ealy

Rookie running back/wide receiver Jerrion Ealy is buried on both positions’ depth charts, but the return game could be his path to remaining with Kansas City.

A 2022 undrafted free agent, Ealy came to Kansas City with a versatile designator. Ealy was primarily a running back in his college career, with 384 rushing attempts for 2,2235 rushing yards. He never recorded less than 700 rushing yards a season in the ultra-competitive SEC, a feat all on it’s own. While he was never a prolific pass catcher, he showed the ability to line up out wide or in the slot.

Ealy is hardly an explosive runner but remains elusive without losing speed. He is a bit small for an NFL running back. limiting his ceiling in that position. But, his shiftiness and athletics make him a good depth option for third-down back, return man, or possibly slot receiver.

Ealy is last on this list, simply because he had the least impressive performance against the Bears. He had one kick return for 18 yards, tied for the shortest return in the game. He has not made significant waves during training camp either. He should see more looks in the second and third preseason games, establishing his stock as a kick returner.
