OT Prince Tega Wanogho

A sizeable and likable prospect, offensive tackle Prince Tega Wanogho, may be off the 53-man roster once again.

After the team revamped the offensive line, Wanogho only appeared in two 2021 games for the Chiefs. But, his training camp and preseason performances inspired some confidence in his long-term growth. So, the team retained Wanogho and gave him room on the gameday roster when they could afford it. With some question marks about the offensive tackle depth, Wanogho had a prime opportunity to take his place as an everyday Chief.

Right now, that does not seem likely, but far from impossible. Wanogho had some pass-blocking issues against the Commanders, allowing two pressures on 22 pass-blocking snaps. But, on the flip side, Wanogho did great against the Bears, allowing no such pressure. The 2022 preseason has been up and down for Wanogho, but the Chiefs need dependable backup options on the offensive line. Fans know what happens when the Chiefs don’t prioritize their offensive line.

The preseason matchup against the Packers is pivotal for Wanogho’s roster hopes. While he did get a lot of time against the Commanders, he could see even more action on Aug. 25. If he has a good performance as he did against Chicago, then Wanogho has an outside shot at making the 53-man roster. If not, then Wanogho is likely looking at the practice squad once again.
