5. Skyy Moore is the guy on punt returns

Two weeks ago, Chiefs’ Special Teams Coordinator Dave Toub made a statement about needing to try out multiple guys at punt returner. Mecole Hardman is expected to take on a bigger role in the offense this year and is being taken out of the returner role for that reason. Last week, there were a number of players to haul in punts, but on Saturday, Skyy Moore had full responsibility.

As a second-round pick, in an offense that is expected to have many contributors, hopes are still high that Skyy Moore will have a solid rookie campaign as a wide receiver. However, after two preseason games—although they mean nothing in the big picture—Moore has received a limited amount of targets, and hence, his skill set has yet to be put on display in front of Chiefs Kingdom.

Leading into the draft, Moore was lauded for his trusty hands and shiftiness atop his routes, but even if it takes some time for him to settle into the offense, those skills will be on display in special teams.

Regardless of his total production in 2022, we will be seeing plenty of Skyy Moore. Even if his greatest contribution comes as a punt returner, he gives fans plenty to be excited about.
