Derrick Gore

No single player likely had a more miserable day on the Chiefs roster than running back Derrick Gore, who not only found himself frustrated by his performance but then he also left with an injury as well.

The Chiefs had an absolutely miserable time running the ball against the Bears on Saturday as it was, and Gore was hardly the only poor performer at his position. However, he did have the least total amount of yards given he finished with -2 yards (yes, that’s correct) on 2 carries. A small sample size shouldn’t sideline Gore completely but a real injury has and together it might spell the end of his chances to make the Chiefs roster. A neck injury pushed Gore out of the game and made him “questionable” to return.

Between Gore and Ronald Jones on Saturday, the Chiefs have to feel a bit more insecure about the position going forward. The top three seem to be Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Jerick McKinnon, and rookie seventh-round pick Isiah Pacheco. That list comes with its own set of questions, however, so I’d expect the Chiefs to make a move for another running back if Gore cannot improve in short order (if his injury allows).
