The Kansas City Chiefs decided to cut ties with offensive lineman Chris Glaser in order to welcome back Orlando Brown Jr. to the roster.

A corresponding roster move had to be made on the part of the Kansas City Chiefs in order to officially welcome back offensive lineman Orlando Brown Jr. It’s just sad for fellow lineman Chris Glaser that he had to be the one to go.

The Chiefs released Glaser on Tuesday in order to add Brown to the 90-man roster, making his return official after holding out for the first several days of training camp in St. Joseph.

Until now, the Chiefs haven’t had to worry about a roster slot for Brown for the duration of the offseason given that, contractually speaking, Brown and the Chiefs had no formal agreement up until now. But with his return, Brown had to sign the franchise tag placed upon him, which meant he was now locked up for the coming season at a cost of $16.6 million.

Glaser could be a name to watch for Chiefs fans in the near future as the team continues to sort out its active roster and practice squad players. After all, he was a rookie tryout player who went undrafted after starting at the University of Virginia at right guard for multiple seasons. Glaser earned a contract after trying out and he lasted this long, which means the team saw enough in him to potentially check on him again in the future.

It should be noted that Indianapolis Colts GM Chris Ballard also invited Glaser to try out before the Chiefs signed him, so expect Indy to at least consider adding Glaser on waivers to get a closer look themselves in the preseason.
