With one of the most intriguing positions on the team, we continue our “Meet the Chiefs” series with the cornerback position.

The Kansas City Chiefs have rebuilt the defensive backfield in this 2022 offseason. Tyrann Mathieu, Charvarius Ward, Daniel Sorensen, and Mike Hughes left via free agency, and there are a lot of new faces on the team.

So, who is now playing the cornerback position for the Chiefs? We’ve got you covered with the “who’s who?” of camp. This time, with the cornerbacks.

#38 L’Jarius Sneed

College: Louisiana Tech
Years Pro: 3 (25 years old)
Chance of Making the Roster: Lock

And just like that… L’Jarius Sneed is the longest-tenured starting cornerback on the roster. As Brett Veach is known for, the Chiefs once again chose an area of weakness and rebuilt that position. This offseason the Chiefs brought in a new group of talent in the defensive backfield. The only full-time starter that remains is Sneed. With tremendous length, versatility, and physicality, Sneed has excelled and earned the number one spot on the team as a lockdown corner.

#27 Rashad Fenton

College: South Carolina
Years Pro: 4 (25 years old)
Chance of Making the Roster: Near Lock

Rashad Fenton has shined in his limited time as a starter. Fenton plays with physicality and swagger that is currently unmatched by the rest of the team. Appearing in 14 games last season and starting in eight of them, he finished the season with seven pass deflections and a forced fumble. Look for Fenton to get the nod as a starter with a couple of other guys that will push him for that role.

#30 Deandre Baker

College: Georgia
Years Pro: 3 (24 years old)
Chance of Making the Roster: On the bubble

The Chiefs signed DeAndre Baker after some issues off of the field forced him out of New York, where he was drafted in the first round by the Giants. While Baker has not carved out a full-time or rotational role, he has appeared in several games during his time with the Chiefs. At times, he has looked like a first-round talent. Now, this season, Baker will be playing for a roster spot. It will come down to a true training camp battle.
