Likely to make the team (60-95%)

  • LB Leo Chenal
  • OL Darian Kinnard

This next group contains players who are likely to make the active roster out of camp but there is a slight chance that a poor performance could lead to them being waived and potentially brought back on the practice squad. In reality, I would be absolutely shocked if either Leo Chenal or Darian Kinnard are waived.

Similar to the previously mentioned rookies, teams are generally patient with players taken on days one or two, so I believe the Chiefs will give Chenal a chance to grow and develop. I also doubt that the Chiefs will move on from any young talent at offensive tackle, like Kinnard, since their future at both tackle positions is looking unclear, to say the least.

50-50 to make the team (40-60%)

  • CB Joshua Williams

Just to be clear, I highly doubt that Joshua Williams is actually cut by the end of camp. At the same time, he is coming from the Division II program at Fayetteville State and the adjustment from that level to the NFL may not be immediate. The Chiefs will be patient with most of their rookies, including Williams, but they also could go for the best 5-6 corners they have on the 90-man roster. McDuffie, L’Jarius Sneed, and Rashad Fenton are close to locks to make the team and Williams will have to compete with Jaylen Watson, Deandre Baker, and Lonnie Johnson for a depth role. It’s also possible that the Chiefs decide to go with an extra safety thus leaving one fewer spot for a corner and Williams is the odd man out.

Again, I don’t foresee the Chiefs actually waiving Williams but I also didn’t see them cutting rookie corner KeiVarae Russell after Week 1 of his rookie season in 2016, so nothing is off the table.
