The Chiefs made ten selections in the 2022 NFL Draft but what are the odds that each draft pick from this past April makes the final roster in September?

The Kansas City Chiefs made ten selections in the 2022 NFL Draft, the first time the team had done that since the 2008 NFL Draft. In that draft, the team acquired a number of future starters, including Brandon Albert, Brandon Flowers, Brandon Carr, and Jamaal Charles. Instead of predicting how many longtime starters the Chiefs got from this class, let’s take a little bit of a step back and analyze how many of the ten draft picks from 2022 will even make the Week 1 active roster this season.

This won’t factor in any potential injury or suspension, just players waived due to not being good enough to make the active roster for the regular season.

Near Locks (>95%)

  • CB Trent McDuffie
  • DE George Karlaftis
  • WR Skyy Moore
  • S Bryan Cook

I am not going to waste much time on this section.

Nothing is guaranteed in the National Football League, which Chiefs fans should know, but I have an extremely difficult time imagining any of the rookies from the first two rounds being released at the end of camp. Even if any have an underwhelming preseason, teams are generally patient with rookies taken in the first two rounds of a draft class.

Barring any potential acquisition, Trent McDuffie and George Karlaftis are both expected to be starters this season, even as rookies. Skyy Moore will get every opportunity to earn snaps and targets, while Bryan Cook will compete for a starting role with Juan Thornhill and will also likely see the field anytime the Chiefs roll with three safeties.
