Eric Fisher

This is the total curveball, but any list would be incomplete without also scoping other moves the Chiefs could make outside of the present roster and that includes the potential re-signing of a player who would know exactly what the Chiefs are asking of their left tackle since he held down the spot for eight seasons.

Eric Fisher remains a free agent at the present time despite being a quality option at a key position, but it’s likely that the veteran is holding out for the ideal opportunity ahead of training camp. In this instance, perhaps the Chiefs would be willing to offer him a homecoming.

Then again, it’s also possible that bridges have been burned here. After all, the Chiefs waived Fisher just weeks after he tore his Achilles late in the postseason as the team was reaching for another Super Bowl win. Fisher went from a long-term Pro Bowl-caliber starter to rehabbing on his own dime with one swift transaction and that has to sting.

Still, the long-term bonds are there between Fisher and the Chiefs and this would be one signing that could provide instant relief if Veach just doesn’t like shifting parts that are already in house.
