Trent McDuffie, Cornerback

It may be strange to see a rookie on this list but rookies are eligible to make the pro bowl in the NFL. It would also make sense that the most likely rookie to make the Pro BNowl from the Chiefs be the first player drafted by them in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Chiefs have not had a rookie be named to the Pro Bowl since Mecole Hardman (as a punt returner) in 2019.

Due to the fact that the Chiefs are so young at cornerback, and the only established veterans are L’Jarius Sneed and Rashad Fenton, I fully expect McDuffie to get full-time snaps this season. McDuffie was also viewed as one of the most pro-ready corners in his draft class so it shouldn’t come as a surprise if he is a full-time starter this season. Though uncommon, it is not unheard of for rookie cornerbacks to be named among the NFL’s best.

McDuffie is a little undersized but was seen as a fearless, aggressive competitor in college and that can translate to the NFL, even in year one. Another reason why this isn’t crazy of a take is that the last time the Chiefs drafted a cornerback in the first round out of Washington, that player ended up making the Pro Bowl in his rookie season. That cornerback was none other than Marcus Peters.
