Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Le’Veon Bell is ready for the ring.

Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Le’Veon Bell is back in the headlines once again. It seems as if no matter how far removed he gets from the football world, Bell finds a way to remain relevant. He’s done so this time around by going public about the revival of his previous and shortly pursued boxing career against a potential future NFL Hall of Fame candidate in Adrian Peterson.

The July 30th card that—potentially—will include Le’Veon Bell and Adrian Peterson both making their boxing debuts, is part of an event called “Social Gloves” that is being put on by YouTuber Austin McBroom. The rest of the card will be filled with ex-NBA players, YouTube stars, and rap artists.

Regardless of your opinion of this particular event—or any of the celebrity boxing spectacles in recent history—a bout between a 30-year-old Le’Veon Bell and a 37-year-old Adrian Peterson has some electrifying potential. They were both superstars at their peaks in the NFL and each played with notable physicality.

Whether or not the toughness we saw from them on the gridiron will translate to the boxing ring is to be seen, but the fight has all of the makings of a legitimate heavyweight duel. Bell is 6’1” and 225 pounds, while Peterson is the same height and just shy of Bell’s weight at 217 pounds.

Bell is on the record claiming boxing training as a key component of his offseason football workouts in his playing days and was briefly rumored to be in line for fights in 2021 between his stints with the Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There is no telling what kind of a fight may break out to be between the two former star running backs, but the unconfirmed rumor is said to be “just a matter of time” from becoming reality.
