2. Alex Okafor

I personally expected a lot more out of Alex Okafor in Kansas City than what he produced. Granted, he was never a huge name before signing with the Chiefs but for a 3-year, $18 million contract, I feel that it was underwhelming.

Okafor was never an impact pass-rusher in Kansas City and he never set the edge in the run game at a high level either. He wasn’t a complete liability but he played closer to a mediocre veteran on a one-year contract than a solid veteran on a multi-year deal. According to PFF’s overall defensive grades ($), Okafor earned grades of 48.2, 53.7, and 62.3 (with 60.0 considered “average”) in 2019, 2020, and 2021, respectively.

Okafor seldom made a huge play the past several seasons. If we’re being honest, what percentage of Chiefs fans would know off the top of their head what number Okafor wore in Kansas City? I definitely wouldn’t classify the Alex Okafor as a disaster but I also would not call it a Brett Veach masterpiece either.
