4. Derrick Johnson – 2005 NFL Draft (No. 15 overall)

Another fan favorite of the Kingdom, Derrick Johnson epitomized the defensive grit of the Kansas City Chiefs for over a decade, often through some very tough seasons for the team. Johnson was a leader of the defense that both McDuffie and Karlaftis should look to emulate. Even though neither player is a linebacker, both would be wise to take notes on tackling from the Chiefs’ all-time leader in tackles.

3. Tamba Hali – 2006 NFL Draft (No. 20 overall)

It’s kind of hard to believe that Tamba Hali was technically a linebacker. Because he played off the edge and was such a great pass rusher, you’d think he was a true defensive end. Few players looked like they were putting on a martial arts clinic when going up against offensive linemen as Hali did. There was a time when Hali and Justin Houston were one of the best pass-rushing duos in the league. Karlaftis could look to Hali’s hand motions and excellent technique when working on his pass rush. Maybe this year, Karlaftis and Clark could become the new Hali and Houston.
