CB L’Jarius Sneed

2021 stats: 15 games, 15 starts, 5 AV

Contract: Four years, $3,929,320

2022 cap hit: $1,053,580

Cap hit rank: 118th amongst NFL cornerbacks

After exceeding expectations in his rookie year, cornerback L’Jarius Sneed caught Chiefs fans’ attention. While opinions are mixed on his sophomore season, Sneed is still amongst the best value players on this team.

Sneed was the 138th overall selection in the 2020 draft, with a very low conservative outlook in Kansas City. He was viewed as a toolsy prospect, but very underwhelming at the cornerback position. But, Sneed surprised everyone by posting a successful rookie campaign. He recorded three interceptions and allowed a 54.2 passer rating in six starts. Ultimately, PFF graded Sneed as his draft class’ top cornerback in the 2020 season.

Sneed came into 2021 as CB1 for the Chiefs, and figures to be CB1 again in 2022. Sneed may not have taken leaps forward in his progression, but he was still a solid defender for Kansas City. Whenever a team’s fourth-round pick can make 21 starts in his first two seasons, that has to be viewed as a win. While expectations remain high for Sneed, he enters the latter half of his rookie deal in 2022. Sneed will be a free agent following the 2023 season, so the clock is ticking on his value status. For now, enjoy the ride.
