Odell Beckham Jr., WR

Odell Beckham Jr. has been brought up as a possibility for the Chiefs to sign since he was released by the Cleveland Browns last November.

Not a lot needs to be said about Beckham. He was one of the most productive wide receivers in the NFL from 2014 through 2016, where he hit 1,300 receiving yards all 3 seasons, and is arguably one of the biggest names in the entire sport.

Outside of being a huge name, Beckham Jr. would not be a traditional free agent signing, mainly because he is coming off a torn ACL suffered in Super Bowl LVI. Torn ACLs typically require six-to-nine months of recovery. Taking a conservative approach would mean that he would be out until mid-November, just time to return for a game against his old team, the Los Angeles Rams.

Beckham. is the type of receiver that, when he’s playing well, is virtually position-less in the passing game. He is a do-it-all receiver who fits the traditional Kansas City mold of being both fast and good after the catch.

Because he is recovering from a serious injury, the Chiefs would be able to place him on the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP) for at least the first six weeks of the 2022 season. This would also mean that he would not be a factor when final cuts come around and it could allow the Chiefs to keep an extra receiver, like Justyn Ross or Justin Watson, on the active roster, if they choose to do so. He would also, of course, be a potential boost to their receiving depth in the middle of the season, exactly what he provided to the Rams en route to a Super Bowl victory.

Because he could demand a lot of money, signing Beckham Jr. could prove to be a risky choice, but it may be a signing that could put the Chiefs’ offense over the top come January and February.

What do you think of the players listed? Which offensive player would you sign that I didn’t mention? Feel free to let me know in the comment section or on Twitter (@StrozinskyLucas).
