DT Trysten Hill

Defensive tackle Trysten Hill is a former top-100 pick who has not lived up to his billing. Sounds like someone Veach will be interested in.

Hill was the 58th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, but he has hardly lived up to that billing. Granted, it is not easy to stuff stat lines as a true nose tackle in the NFL. However, Hill failed to start a game in 2021, after injuries hampered his 2020 season. He seems like a prime cut candidate, especially being so buried on the depth chart.

While Hill has not produced, there are still reasons for optimism. He will only be 24 years old this season, despite already having three years of NFL experience. Also, Dallas has struggled to develop interior defenders, something that has hindered their team’s outlook for years. If Dallas does release Hill, his next team will have a prospect-aged veteran with high athletic upside.

Hill would fit in Kansas City by eating double-teams and blockers alongside Jones. Hill would still not record much stat-wise, but he could create more opportunities for his teammates. Also, if the Chiefs want to add more 3-4 looks in 2022, Hill would be a good option at nose tackle. Veach loves his reclamation projects, and Hill could be an underrated one.
