On this episode of the Arrowhead Addict podcast, we discuss a surprising offseason and Melvin Ingram’s refusal to sign with the Chiefs.

It’s been a surprising offseason for the Kansas City Chiefs ever since free agency first opened, so perhaps it should not have surprised anyone to see pass rusher Melvin Ingram refuse to sign with the team after rumors and hopes had connected both sides for months.

Earlier this week, the Miami Dolphins announced they’d signed Ingram in free agency not long after the Chiefs had placed the UFA tender on him. The transaction at least gives K.C. an additional compensatory pick, but it leaves them without a veteran addition they were still hoping to make at a position that was lacking even if Ingram had re-signed with the Chiefs.

At this point, the Chiefs look like they’re leaning heavily on a number of options—each of whom comes with a question mark or two. George Karlaftis is a talented prospect but he’s never played a single snap in the NFL. Frank Clark has put up big stats on big stages, but injuries have kept him from being a reliable contributor during the regular season on any consistent basis. Mike Danna is a rotational piece, while Joshua Kaindoh and other younger players are unproven. Suffice it to say, it’s not a pretty picture outside.

On this episode of the Arrowhead Addict podcast, hosts Sterling Holmes and Matt Conner are joined by our guest and friend Charles Goldman, editor of Chiefs Wire, to talk about the situation at pass rusher and a full offseason of surprises for the Chiefs.
