If the Chiefs are concerned with the fact that no receiver currently on the roster has shouldered the load that comes with being a primary target, there’s really one candidate available who could potentially provide an answer and that’s Odell Beckham, Jr. The only issue is that he’s still available for a reason.

Beckham tore his ACL this past winter and will likely need the rest of the offseason and preseason to get healthy. Expecting him to be ready to start the season feels like a fool’s errand, although teams should expect him back at some point in ’22 and to contribute right away when he does.

The injury casts a shadow, to be sure, and Beckham hasn’t been a dynamic contributor on a consistent basis since Julio Jones was as well—back in 2019. However, anyone who watched the Rams down the stretch will recognize just how much of an impact OBJ had for a team that ultimately won the Super Bowl.

Back in January, the Chiefs were mentioned as a likely suitor for Beckham by ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler, and if the Chiefs fear life without Tyreek, Beckham could give them the big name if they’re open to a bit of risk. At the same time, several other teams, the Rams included, are also going to be interested and the Chiefs might decide they like what they have in house.
