There are a lot of familiar faces on both sides of the ball when it comes to the rumored first game of the season for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Update: Initial reports proved inaccurate as the Chiefs will open the season against Arizona.

The Kansas City Chiefs will learn the full terms of their regular-season schedule on Thursday evening with the rest of us when the National Football League broadcasts the unveiling of all 17 games for each team. However, some things have already leaked, including reports that the Chiefs will be traveling to the Houston Texans for Week 1 to start the year.

While the Texans will undoubtedly be viewed as one of the weakest opponents on the team’s schedule, and rightfully so, there will be a lot of familiar faces likely playing with a bit more personal motivation having played for the other side. And that’s true for both the home and road teams.

The Chiefs brought in a pair of defensive backs from the Texans’ secondary within the last couple of months with the signing away of safety Justin Reid to a three-year deal at the start of free agency and the recent trade for cornerback Lonnie Johnson.

Interestingly enough, the Texans have a few familiar faces themselves in their own defensive backfield, including former Chiefs corners Steven Nelson and Tremon Smith along with safety Eric Murray. Elsewhere on the Texans’ defense are former Chiefs linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis and defensive lineman Demone Harris.

On the offensive side, former Chiefs wide receiver Chris Conley and quarterback Kevin Hogan are on the Texans’ 90-man roster, while the Chiefs recently signed former Houston Texans tackle Geron Christian to a one-year deal in free agency.

It will be interesting to see how much of an impact these players make in Week 1 even as the final outcome should end in the Chiefs’ favor.
