The Kansas City Chiefs pulled off a fantastic draft while adding solid value to the offensive unit. Could these new additions push established players off the roster?

The Kansas City Chiefs rightfully focused on the defensive unit during the 2022 NFL Draft. Five of the team’s first six picks invested in the defense, and only three offensive players joined the Chiefs out of ten picks.

The Chiefs could be entering a new offensive evolution heading into 2022. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill is now in Miami, tight end Travis Kelce is not getting younger, and running back could be a problem solved by a committee. Head coach Andy Reid thrives off of being unpredictable, and the Chiefs feel extremely unpredictable after the draft.

As far as offensive players go, the Chiefs added these three via the draft:

  • WR Skyy Moore (54th overall)
  • OL Darian Kinnard (145th overall)
  • RB Isiah Pacheco (251st overall)

Those three alone could push their peers off the roster. All three have paths to contributing roles in 2022 and beyond. But, none of them will likely start Week 1 on top of the depth chart.

One member of this list is already gone, in OL Austin Reiter. The offensive players whose job is in jeopardy are not necessarily starters but are expendable after the draft and initial free agency. If slight scheme changes are in the works, they are even more expendable. The Chiefs look to get younger, cheaper, and hungrier on their depth chart. What players do not fit that mold, and might not make the Chief’s final 53-man roster?
