Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman detailed how he spent his first $1 million as a pro football player for GQ Sports.

Sometimes it can be hard to get to know some of our favorite players on the Kansas City Chiefs since the primary times we see or hear from them have to go with their on-field production and accomplishments. Players and coaches will often stand behind a podium answering commonly asked questions and respond with cliches that have been said thousands of times by others in their position. In the process, they remain two-dimensional for fans.

On occasion, the more famous players on a team like the Chiefs—Travis Kelce, Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, Tyrann Mathieu—have provided more windows into their personality than others because their fame affords them a greater share of the limelight. Journalists chase interesting features on these players in the hopes of uncovering new angles about the celebrities of the National Football League.

So it’s fun to see a player like Mecole Hardman get a chance to share more of his own story in a unique video series put out by GQ Sports entitled “My First Million.

In this series, an athlete details how he made and saved, and spent his first million dollars as a professional athlete. In hearing Hardman tell his story, it’s great to hear about his home in a small town in Georgia, what his family meant to him growing up, and how he’s also been able to reward them after being drafted by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Beyond that, there are some crazy expenses for things like a $10K personal chef for a week or the $40K he’s spent on shoes over time. However, it’s best if we let him tell you. The whole video is an entertaining watch and opens up Hardman’s world for a wider audience.
