According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, the Houston Texans have signed a familiar face for Chiefs Kingdom in quarterback Kevin Hogan.

Hogan joins the Texans’ offseason roster in hopes of making a dent in the current pecking order that features Davis Mills at the top followed by former Denver Broncos quarterback Jeff Driskel and finally Kyle Allen, formerly of Washington, at QB3.

Houston is the seventh different team in the National Football League with which Hogan has played, beginning with the Kansas City Chiefs as the organization that drafted him back in 2016. Hogan was the team’s fifth-round pick at No. 162 overall out of Stanford, but he made very little impact on the coaches because he was cut when active rosters were due in his rookie season.

Former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Kevin Hogan is still floating around the National Football League.

From there, Hogan would go on to spend a couple of seasons with the Cleveland Browns, alternating between their practice squad and the active roster until he was traded to the Washington Football Team in the spring of 2018. He was only there a few months, however, until he was released and claimed by the Broncos who kept him through the 2018 season and the following offseason.

Hogan spent the 2019 season out of the NFL as a free agent but found a home with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020 in Joe Burrow’s first season. In 2021, he was with the Tennessee Titans, and apparently, the Texans saw enough in him in the AFC South and otherwise to now bring him in as a longshot to make the roster in 2022.

For a guy with a 59.4 completion rate and 4 touchdowns with just as many interceptions since 2016, the fact that Hogan is still around and earning chances is a pleasant surprise. The Chiefs never got anything out of their investment, but at least Hogan is still able to chase his dream somewhere else.
