The Kansas City Chiefs came into the second day of the 2022 NFL Draft on Friday night with three selections to use, and their first one is now official with the decision to take wide receiver Skyy Moore out of Western Michigan.

Moore put up great numbers at Western Michigan last season with 95 catches for 1,292 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns last year during his redshirt sophomore season. A slight target at 5’10”, 195 lbs., Moore ran the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in 4.41 seconds and comes with good hands and toughness.

The Chiefs originally sat at No. 50 overall in the round coming into the night, but the New England Patriots wanted to move up four spots to grab Baylor wide receiver Tyquan Thornton. The Chiefs then picked up No. 54 and added No. 158 overall, which falls in the middle of the fifth round.

The Kansas City Chiefs have made their first selection on day two of the draft by taking wide receiver Skyy Moore. .

Moore now joins a wide receiver group that’s been radically remade following the trade of Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins. Moore will join Mecole Hardman and new faces in JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, both of whom were signed in free agency this spring.

It was important for the Chiefs to add someone to the mix at receiver knowing that Smith-Schuster is only on a one-year deal and Hardman is set to hit free agency this offseason. The Chiefs have also watched Demarcus Robinson and Byron Pringle leave in free agency this spring.

The Chiefs already added significant help on the defensive side of the ball with the first-round picks of both Washington cornerback Trent McDuffie and Purdue pass rusher George Karlaftis.
