Pick Analysis. Minnesota. Boye Mafe. Scouting Report. EDGE. 27. player. 48

Boye Mafe is loved by some and hated by others. While his college tape doesn’t offer much to be ecstatic about, his Senior Bowl tape was excellent. Mafe has an excellent motor and has shown good use of his length and power. Mafe makes for an excellent replacement for Jason Pierre-Paul if he pans out.

Mafe’s truly an intriguing prospect, but maybe the biggest gamble in the draft. The Bucs could use him as a situational pass-rusher in year one. If all works out as planned, Mafe could be a starter by year two.

player. 49. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Perrion Winfrey. 28. DT. Oklahoma

One player that has been somewhat underrated throughout the predraft process is Perrion Winfrey. The Packers could utilize Winfrey as one of the defensive ends in their base 3-4 look. In a dime or nickel look, he could play in a defensive tackle role. With violent hands at the point of attack and great athleticism, Winfrey could be a steal at pick 28.

The Packers nabbed their new wide receiver earlier in the draft. Now, Winfrey, as a late day one pick, adds some firepower to a defense that lost Za’Darius Smith. Winfrey could be a day one starter and be an upgrade at his position. He could also be a top player on this roster for a decade or more.

29. player. 15. WR. Pick Analysis. Georgia. George Pickens. Scouting Report

(Projected trade from Kansas City Chiefs)

George Pickens is a wildcard in this one. No one knows whether Pickens is a top fifteen pick or a second-rounder. The sweet spot for Pickens is late in the first. In this scenario, with Kansas City moving up, Pickens makes perfect sense for a team like the New Orleans Saints.

Pickens likely has the best hands in the draft. While he does not have blazing speed, he is adequate in and out of his breaks. Pickens has great body control and tracking ability and can make plays at every level. If Michael Thomas can ever get healthy, Pickens would make for an excellent complimentary piece.
