KC Chiefs address offense and defense in first-round mock draft
22. Green Bay Packers: WR Chris Olave, Ohio State
The Packers grab the best receiving option on the board and pick a player who will be part of the replacement of Davante Adams. Olave does not completely replicate the missed production of Adams in this offense, but it is a very good start. A receiver is an obvious need of Green Bay’s and Olave fits this offense very well. His route-running ability and speed will give this offense another element. The Ohio State product is also a sure-handed wideout, dropping only six passes in his collegiate career. The 6’1” wideout runs exceptional routes and shows the ability to run after the catch. This is an absolute slam dunk by the Packers.
23. Arizona Cardinals: DT Jordan Davis, Georgia
NFL Combine breakout Jordan Davis lands with the Cardinals and is a huge boost to the defensive line. Chandler Jones signed with the Raiders, and J.J. Watt is an aging pass rusher that cannot stay on the field. Davis gives the Cardinals stability in the middle of the defensive line, providing size and physicality. The 340-pound defensive tackle is hyper-athletic and has the speed and quickness to get off the ball and disrupt plays. In 14 games last season, the Georgia product tallied 32 tackles and two sacks. The 22-year-old defensive tackle has shown that he can dominate the line of scrimmage and affect the game in multiple facets. He is fast enough to chase down running backs in the backfield while staying disciplined and not biting on play-action. The Cardinals get a ridiculously talented player that should be a difference-maker immediately.
24. Dallas Cowboys: C Tyler Linderbaum, Iowa
An offensive lineman is not the sexiest pick, but the Cowboys end up with a player that will be monumental for them. Dallas’ offensive line lost La’el Collins in free agency, Tyron Smith and Zack Martin are both aging, and the Cowboys need help up front. Linderbaum is possibly the best player on the board at this point. Jerry Jones has talked about trading up, but this is a perfect spot to be in this particular draft. There is a ton of value at the back end of the first round, and it shows with this selection. The Iowa product has the ability to anchor an offensive line, and his balance and lateral ability are two reasons he can be that for Dallas.
