Von Miller has the best response to KC Chiefs’ supremacy in the AFC

The Buffalo Bills have to be tired of the presence of the Kansas City Chiefs above them in the conference standings in recent seasons as quarterback Josh Allen has helped the team ascend to new heights. The Bills have built a talented roster and the team has very real Super Bowl hopes for the first time in a long while.

Unfortunately, the Bills picked the present time to get competitive right when the Chiefs were vaulting to conference-wide supremacy with Patrick Mahomes at the helm. While Allen is a great quarterback, Mahomes is rewriting the record books in K.C., especially with future Hall of Famers catching the ball like wide receiver Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce.

Last year, the Bills found themselves brokenhearted as the team on the losing end of the famed “13 seconds” game. Another round of heroics from Mahomes gave the Bills another stomach-punch of a loss, and reporters are still asking Buffalo players and coaches about the aftermath of such a devastating postseason loss.

The Bills, however, have maintained their confidence that they are on the verge of something great and they’ve reloaded for another playoff run with their eyes firmly fixed on the Super Bowl. Pass rusher Von Miller is just one of several new faces brought in to bolster the roster, and the future Hall of Fame pass rusher is expected to make a big difference along a line that looks ready for a deep postseason run.

Miller is also very familiar with the Chiefs after spending the majority of his career with their rivals, the Denver Broncos. The new pass rusher was asked about the Bills’ loss to the Chiefs on Wednesday and had the best response.

Six years is absolutely right. Miller knows the countdown well because he has been staring up and Andy Reid’s team in the standings for that long in the AFC West. It’s been since Peyton Manning left the Broncos that the Chiefs have taken over the division in the AFC West with six consecutive division titles—the most by a single team in NFL history.

Miller should enjoy his time with Buffalo knowing just how close they’ve come to the Super Bowl recently, but it should be noted that Denver might be relevant for the first time in years following the trade for Russell Wilson with the Seattle Seahawks. Miller is not the only Bronco, or former Bronco, hoping for different results in ’22. Until proven otherwise, however, the pain of losing to the Chiefs is a league-wide feeling, a sensation that Miller knows quite well.
