The intrigue of the NFL Draft is what makes it so compelling, even when compared to other first-year player drafts in other sports. While the NBA has a viewer-friendly event with plenty of draftniks who love watching it annually, it’s still nothing like the frenzy of attention and guesswork that goes into watching the three-day NFL Draft event for so many every year.

It’s this intrigue or mystery that makes the NFL Draft what it is. Depending on how decisions are made for other teams, a franchise like the Kansas City Chiefs could find itself staring at very favorable scenarios for the players they are most interested in.

The Chiefs could also find themselves sitting too far down the draft order in most rounds to be able to grab the guys they really want, especially if a run on certain positions takes place from time to time.

The Kansas City Chiefs find some ideal fits on both sides of the ball in this four-round mock draft.

The Chiefs enter this draft needing help at edge rusher and wide receiver and both of those positions are deep in 2022. In addition, needs in the secondary could be addressed early given how good some defensive backs look on tape. Fortunately, the team has 12 total picks to utilize, including an astounding eight in the top four rounds. Given that’s where the best talent lies, we thought we’d focus on an ideal four-round mock to see how a perfect draft could look—if we can land one.

In our latest mock draft, the Chiefs are in a very fortunate position in most rounds. By the time, we made our picks in each round (using the NFL draft simulator at Pro Football Focus), it was exciting to see things turn out so well (and to think that could happen in real life). Will the Chiefs be this lucky at the real thing, when the 2022 NFL Draft gets underway? We can only hope.

For now, let’s look at a four-round draft that gives the Chiefs eight new performers at important positions of need, beginning with the first of two Day One selections.
