Kansas State’s Timmy Horne

Does proximity play into this? Yes. Is Kansas State’s Timmy Horne an underrated prospect? Also yes.

Horne was not an every-week starter for Kansas State, with only one start in 2021. But, he recorded 30 starts over five total seasons of college football, between Charlotte and Kansas State. He tallied 18 tackles and two sacks while being a rotational player in 2021.

He has a formidable frame, standing 6’5″ and weighing in at 326 lbs. He stands out on film, especially as a nose tackle. Horne can demolish a pocket from the middle. While he may not fill the stat line, players who can eat blocks or apply pressure are very important. Horne does that dirty work.

Don’t worry, Horne would not command an early pick or even a pick at all. Horne is rarely seen on mock drafts or big boards. He is not a huge pass-rush threat, but he does play with his eyes in the backfield. His attentive approach allows him to clean up sacks or be a foundation for an interior pass defender, deflecting passes at the line.

Horne would be a deep pick, going no earlier than the seventh round. Kansas City scouts attended the Kansas State pro day, with Horne on display for scouts. Former Chief Byron Pringle was a recent success story for the Kansas-State-to-Kansas-City pipeline. Horne has a good foundation and chance to be the next one.
