Will the Chiefs add a veteran pass rusher?

At this point, it doesn’t have to be Melvin Ingram. The Chiefs might not even have a chance to re-sign the veteran defensive end anyway if the Miami Dolphins or another team get in the way. However, the question remains that many fans would love to see answered in the affirmative: will the Chiefs sign a free agent to help at defensive end?

Chiefs Kingdom has watched a number of big-name players secure deals with their division rivals or elsewhere among AFC contenders, to their dismay. The Buffalo Bills were already stacked and then added Von Miller. The Las Vegas Raiders are a basement-dwelling team who still convinced Chandler Jones to sign. The L.A. Chargers already have Joey Bosa but decided Khalil Mack was needed across from him. The Broncos announced Randy Gregory as the answer for the departed Miller who they traded at midseason last year.

As for the Chiefs, they have publicly stated they’d love to have Ingram back, but Ingram has earned a bit of interest from others and the Chiefs have done nothing but retain Clark in a curious move. Right now it’s Michael Danna, Joshua Kaindoh, Jonathan Woodard, Malik Herring, and Frank Clark along with whatever rookies are brought on board in the draft. Is that enough? (Rhetorical question.)

It doesn’t have to be Ingram, but free agency is slowly seeing even lower-tier options (e.g. Kemeko Turay) find new homes. Maybe a surprise cut is coming or trade is in the works, but the Chiefs could use someone opposite Clark who has actually, y’know, sacked an NFL quarterback before.
