After a long, storied coaching career, much of it alongside Andy Reid himself, Tommy Brasher is on the verge of receiving some significant recognition as he will be inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame on Friday.

The ceremony is set to take place on Friday in Little Rock and will honor a total of 10 figures, including Brasher, who is now 81 years old.

Kansas City Chiefs fans will recognize Brasher as a longtime assistant working next to Reid, a close coaching connection that went back to their days together with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame is set to honor former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Tommy Brasher this week.

Brasher first joined Reid back in 1999 with the Eagles and came over with him as his longtime defensive line coach in 2013 when Reid was hired by Clark Hunt to rebuild a Chiefs team that had reached its franchise low. Brasher was a key part of a coaching staff that helped to ignore the rebirth of a once-proud franchise that remains one of the league’s most respected and successful teams.

For the Chiefs, Brasher served as the defensive line coach through the 2015 season before moving on to “special projects.” He remained in a consulting role through the team’s first Super Bowl victory in 50 years following the 2019 season.

During his long career as a defensive line coach in the NFL, Brasher had the chance to work with Chiefs players like Dontari Poe along with all-time NFL greats like Cortez Kennedy with the Seattle Seahawks and Reggie White in Philly. An Arkansas native, Brasher himself lettered for three seasons at the University of Arkansas.

Other persons to be inducted alongside Brasher include former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Barry Foster, former Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Matt Jones, and U.S. track and field great Tyson Gay.
