Jermaine Johnson, EDGE, Florida State

Projected Range:

#5 overall – #15 overall

Overview:

Jermaine Johnson has done really well in the pre-draft process. At the beginning of the process, he was regarded as a top 25 pick. Now, he has cemented himself as a top 15 selection in the draft. Johnson had an excellent performance at the combine in which he had a 40 time of 4.58 seconds. This, paired with his playing style makes him a viable top ten pick. However, if he slips to pick 11 or 12, the Chiefs should move up immediately.

Johnson is not an ideal Spagnuolo type, but he is versatile. While the Chiefs have typically valued power over speed, Johnson gives a bit of both. With a motor that never quits, Jermaine Johnson would instantly make an impact on the Kansas City defense. He would be one of the only EDGE prospects that could make an immediate impact in this manner.

Compensation:

The Chiefs are going to be hoping that he falls anywhere from 12 to 15. This seems unlikely at this point, but the Chiefs may give up both firsts to get to pick at 10 or earlier.
