KC Chiefs: Three scariest additions to the AFC West
By Matt Conner
Khalil Mack
The most important player on a football team apart from the quarterback is the guy going after the other team’s quarterback, which is why the Los Angeles Chargers moved heaven and earth to import Khalil Mack from the Chicago Bears this offseason. It was a shocker of a move that gives the Chargers two incredible bookends with Joey Bosa on the other side.
Mack missed his first Pro Bowl in several years last season in an injury-plagued year that limited him to 7 games, but even in that span of time, he had 6 sacks for the Bears. On the one hand, Mack is now into his thirties and trying to stay healthy. On the other hand, he’s been on a slowly sinking ship parked at Soldier Field.
The Chargers should be a sunny environment perfect for reinvigorating Mack to be the force he’s been for years. There’s a reason the Bears once made a regime-defining trade for Mack in the first place back in 2018, and the Chargers are going to boast the greatest pass rush they’ve had in a long time with Jerry Tillery and others also in the mix.
