The Kansas City Chiefs decided this offseason to part ways with Demarcus Robinson for the first time in six years, but he’s going to remain a familiar face for Chiefs Kingdom with his decision to stay in the AFC West.

According to FanSided’s Matt Lombardo, Robinson has reached a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders for the ’22 season after visiting the team on Tuesday. Terms of the deal were not made available at press time.

For Robinson, free agency is not a new frontier since he’s played on consecutive one-year contracts to return to the Chiefs after flirting with the open market. What’s different this time around is the lack of an invitation to come back for another round from Kansas City. Robinson has been a fixture in the wide receivers room at Arrowhead Stadium since he was a fourth-round pick back in the 2015 NFL Draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs will still see Demarcus Robinson on two occasions next year when they face the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Chiefs have cleared out the receiver room just a bit after maintaining continuity for years with the departures of Robinson to Las Vegas and Byron Pringle to the Chicago Bears this offseason. If Marcus Kemp is also left on the open market, the Chiefs will be looking at a brand new lower half of the depth chart behind Mecole Hardman and Tyreek Hill.

Robinson played in Kansas City for the last six seasons and provided the team with solid blocking and a reliable target in that time, even as he stayed in the shadows of big-name players who earned far more targets. Last year, Robinson fell even further down the depth chart, however, as Pringle and others took a step forward. Robinson finished with only 25 catches in 17 games, which was a good sign that he wouldn’t return for another year.

Robinson finished his tenure with the Chiefs with 42 starts and 97 regular season games played. He had 145 catches for 1,679 yards and 14 touchdowns in that span. He also added 14 catches for 220 yards in 13 postseason games.
