KC Chiefs have backup tackle options in free agency

Indianapolis Colts’ Eric Fisher
Did you really think that this would not be an option? After only one season away, Indianapolis Colts offensive tackle Eric Fisher could be slated to return.
Fisher and the Colts could not work out a deal after the 2021 season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. A former first overall pick by Kansa City, Fisher went to Indianapolis after Kansas City released him and Mitchell Schwartz. Fisher’s postseason injury proved costly in the Super Bowl, as Mahomes’ long-time blindside protector was out of action.
Fisher is no longer playing at a Pro Bowl level but is still a solid option. Injuries have hampered him the past two seasons and made him expendable in Indianapolis.
Fisher shouldn’t be a lock for the starting job in Kansas City, but it is a mutually beneficial situation. First, Kansas City would extend Fisher’s career, while a backup role would allow Fisher to heal. Secondly, the Chiefs would gain a good player, familiar with head coach Andy Reid’s scheme. Lastly, a low-expectations return by Fisher would be welcomed by fans and improve the team. The Chiefs should not break the bank for Fisher but should be interested if he is still available post-June 1.
