KC Chiefs have backup tackle options in free agency

Washington Commanders’ Cornelius Lucas
If you think Orlando Brown Jr. is big, imagine Washinton Commanders offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas opposite him. A former Kansas State Wildcat, Lucas is both taller and lengthier than Brown, a feat alone.
In the past two years, Lucas has appeared in 29 games the past two seasons for Washington, starting 15 of them. Those appearances included starts at both the right and left tackle positions. While Lucas is not the most mobile tackle, he is similar to both Kansas City starting tackles. He is a physically imposing blocker, with a huge frame to protect Mahomes.
Before trading for quarterback Carson Wentz, Lucas was a key re-signing for the Commanders. However, Wentz’s cap hit makes any return unlikely. Lucas is currently ranked 131 on PFF’s top 200 free agents, amongst the best free-agent tackles this offseason.
For Kansas City, Lucas would be a prime swing tackle. If Wylie walks in free agency, Lucas could be the person to replace him. Lucas displays not only competent blocking, but can be the best at times on either side of the line. Considering his low price tag, according to PFF, the Cheifs would be wise to acquire his services.
