Los Angeles Rams: Sebastian Joseph-Day

If Veach wanted a slam-dunk signing, it would be signing Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day.

Jospeh-Day was a player on the rise in 2021, recording three sacks and seven quarterback pressures in only seven games. However, a torn pectoral forced him to miss 13 of the Rams’ 21 games, including the postseason. He did return for the Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals, a feat on its own.

That injury brought his free agency stock down after he was on pace for a career year. Joseph-Day made 22 run stuffs in the eight total games he played, on pace for amongst the league’s best. Alongside defensive star Aaron Donald, Joseph-Day was on the field for nearly 70% of the Rams’ defensive snaps during those eight games. On a team with an elite front, Joseph-Day carved out his own role.

He is a downhill player in the pass rush, but smart and skilled in stopping the run. Joseph-Day was this offseason’s best interior defensive lineman before his injury, but that injury drops him down. The film looks great, the question lies if he is the same player and wants to chase a championship, the money, or both. Kansas City could offer him a championship opportunity, and another quality running mate in Chris Jones. A tantalizing prospect, Joseph-Day would be a good fit with the Chiefs.
