7.248: Demetrius Taylor, DT, Appalachian State

Demetrius Taylor is a low-end prospect in this draft, a guy that I’m sure not many of you have heard of. I know that because I didn’t know who he was going into this mock draft. However, I did some film studies on him, and I liked what I saw.

Over the past three seasons, Taylor has done nothing but produce, produce, produce. He has played in 38 games in the past three seasons and has great numbers to show for it. He has 108 tackles, 36.5 tackles for loss, 20.0 sacks, six forced fumbles and he even has 9 passes defended.

Taylor shows a very good burst on the play, terrific hand usage, and very good strength as well. As for his weaknesses, he is a smaller defensive tackle, and if you play him on the edge, then he will have to cut weight. It’s going to be interesting to see how will be used, and I feel that is the biggest concern at the moment.

Tayor does a lot of things right and the Chiefs could get a very good player out of him. Kind of a late-round gem if you will.
