Before another year of free agency begins, let’s look at Brett Veach’s best signings in his tenure as the general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs.

One of the most underrated aspects of the Kansas City Chiefs’ success in the Andy Reid era is how longstanding his relationship is with Brett Veach.

Before becoming the Chiefs general manager in 2017, Veach was a coaching intern and scout in Philadelphia. He followed Coach Reid to Kansas City in 2013 as a personnel analyst and worked up to his current role. His stature in the Kansas City front office was built brick by brick, and under the constant supervision of one of the greatest head coaches in NFL history.

As fans, we tend to jump to conclusions about management and ownership of our teams when things go wrong, and while some of the roster mistakes—in hindsight—over the past five years can be attributed directly to Veach’s decision making, he has generally done a stellar job with the responsibility of the GM position.

Before the market opens for another spring, here are the five best free-agent signings of Brett Veach’s tenure as the Chiefs GM.
