New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have things to figure out already at cornerback and that has nothing to do with Ward.

Patriots cornerback J.C. Jackson is perhaps the biggest name defender to hit free agency along with the likes of pass rushers Chandler Jones and Von Miller or safety Jessie Bates. The latest report says that the Pats are not going to place a franchise tag on Jackson, but it makes the most sense that Bill Belichick will want a way to earn something in return for watching his star cornerback leave in free agency. Or perhaps the Pats will re-sign him in the end,

Belichick is a smart shopper and perhaps he would know well to go after Ward, with or without Jackson, knowing that asks his own pass defenders to play man coverage and stick to their assignments. Given the level of coaching and attention to detail in New England, Ward would likely progress quite well with the Pats and Belichick might look smart for making the swap in the open market and saving some money that way.

Either way, the Pats make sense as a team who would value a promising asset like Ward.
