The Chiefs are hoping that a fully healthy offseason from Clyde Edwards-Helaire in 2022 will make the difference in his production on the field as he enters his third year. However, behind CEH, the cupboards are looking empty for the Chiefs backfield knowing that Darrel Wiliams and Jerick McKinnon are both free agents who are likely to find solid offers to play elsewhere.

Williams in particular should find himself worthy of a decent free agent payday after serving as an important backup or role player in K.C. over the last four seasons. This year, Williams broke out statistically with his first season over 1,000 yards from scrimmage in 2021. He’s been a postseason hero in 2020, a regular season pillar in 2021 and an overall excellent tandem back to place with the likes of Damien Wiliams or Clyde.

The Baltimore Ravens are likely gong to remake the backfield a bit in 2022 after suffering so many injuries, and taking Williams from K.C. would be an ideal shift in talent within the conference.
