Sad to say, we’re ready to find ourselves steeped in offseason rumors and potential transactions for the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s two weeks before any of us wanted to be concerned with such things, of course, but it’s also important to note the team’s success.
Before Andy Reid arrived, NFL offseason rumors were a popular topic of conversation by midseason, which made it tough to wait for the following spring’s free agency period and the annual first-year player draft. That offseason wait has been in place for many fan bases, including the Atlanta Falcons, who have one of this offseason’s potentially hottest tickets available in wide receiver Calvin Ridley.
In case you missed it, Ridley could be on the outs with the Atlanta Falcons this spring/summer. Back in October, just before Halloween, Ridley announced that he was taking time away for mental health reasons and he never returned to the roster. NFL Network reporter Steve Wyche stated that both sides might be ready for a “fresh start” in the coming year, which is why trade ideas are even swirling right now.
There are definite pros and cons to the idea of the Kansas City Chiefs trading for Calvin Ridley.
Despite the presence of other teams that make sense, the Chiefs are being mentioned in conjunction with multiple players at this point, including Ridley.
Are the Chiefs planning another big move to acquire an impact playert at a position that they’ve tried to improve (but haven’t) in the last year or more? Could Ridley be the guy? Just how realistic is any of this and would the cost be prohibitive for the Chiefs in the first place?
Let’s look at the pros and cons of such a deal for K.C.
