The Cincinnati Bengals have already taken out the Kansas City Chiefs once this year, a Week 17 clash decided by a single field goal on their home turf at Paul Brown Stadium. Now with a chance to go to the Super Bowl on the line, the Bengals are hoping their previous experience can illuminate their way forward on the road against the Chiefs at Arrowhead on Sunday.

The first time around, Ja’Marr Chase set the mark for most receiving yards ever against the Chiefs with 269, and Joe Burrow‘s offensive performance was enough to put the Bengals over the top. This time, the Chiefs are far less likely to allow Chase to run around unchecked as they look to make it to their third consecutive Super Bowl.

Can the Chiefs maintain their present momentum after keeping the Buffalo Bills at bay last Sunday? Can they figure out a way to get the best of the Bengals after getting beat earlier this year? Can the secondary get healthy enough to put up a solid fight against one of the best collections of receiving talent in the league?

We’ll soon find out all of this and more after the AFC Championship is played on Sunday afternoon.

Injury reports for KC Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are coming in very healthy on the injury report with only role players or special teams contributors among those injured (and even those aren’t plentiful). Stanley Morgan is a special teams ace who is doubtful as is edge rusher Cam Sample. Defensive tackle Josh Top is questionable but the Bengals have the reserves to fill in fine there.

As for the Chiefs it will be interesting to see if Darrel Williams plays at all given a questionable designation for a toe injury but they are also fine overall in talent out of the backfield, especially after last week’s return of Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Tyrann Mathieu injury update

Here’s the key injury for either side. It’s looked promising all week long that the Honey Badger would be okay to play for the Chiefs on Sunday and he was even back in practice for K.C. later in the week, but clearing gather concussion protocol is another thing entirely. It’s the reason he’s remained questionable on the injury report. Expect Mathieu to play but know nothing is set in stone yet.
