Reason 5: Patrick Mahomes Is On Fire

This may be the most obvious one on the list, but it has to be said. Patrick Lavon Mahomes II is a force of nature and is playing out of his mind right now. Joe Burrow is a great and exciting young quarterback, but Mahomes is still the best young quarterback this league has seen…..maybe ever?

In his four seasons as a starter, he has advanced to the AFC Championship 100% of the time, which is insane. He’s already won a Super Bowl and appeared in another. He is 8-2 overall in the playoffs. Through two playoff games this season he is averaging 391 yards per game with 79.5% completions and 9.4 yards per attempt. He has 8 passing touchdowns to just one interception and he has rushed for 98 yards with 9.8 yards/carry and a rushing touchdown. He’s basically been unstoppable.

It’s not just this year either. In his 10 career postseason games, he’s averaged 310.6 yards per game with 25 touchdowns to 5 interceptions. Plus he’s rushed for almost 300 total yards in those 10 games with 5 rushing touchdowns. Playoff Pat really is the Grim Reaper for his opponents in the playoffs.

So last time these two teams met, the officiating was very different than what the numbers say we should expect on Sunday, there was a weird/flukish/once in a lifetime ending drive, Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase had career days, and they won on a last-second field goal. So what are the odds they can now go on the road to a very hostile Arrowhead and replicate that against a red hot Patrick Mahomes? I’m guessing the odds aren’t great.

So what do you think Chiefs fans? Do you agree that things should be very different this time around? Are you feeling confident too or do you think it’s foolish to feel confident against a team that just beat the Chiefs a few weeks ago? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
