The Pro Football Writers of America have spoken with a collective voice with the official announcement and release of their All-NFL team representing the 2021 season. Somehow, despite being the single biggest draw in the sport and the preseason favorites to win it all, anchored by five players from the NFL’s Top 100, the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t place a single player on the list.

Every year, the PFWA comes together to vote and create separate all-conference teams as well as a combined All-NFL team to honor the best players at each position after each regular season. Somehow, when this year’s vote totals came together, each potential Chiefs player found himself trailing others in the final tally.

That’s not to say that some Chiefs were not close. Judging by the results of this year’s All-AFC team, the Chiefs had a chance to put a couple of players on the final team. Here were the best options.

The PFWA voted and not a single member of the Chiefs’ roster made their All-NFL team.

Tyreek Hill was listed as a wide receiver on the AFC’s team but missed the cut to the main All-NFL team because both wide receiver spots were taken up by players from the NFC: Davante Adams of the Green Bay Packers and Cooper Kupp of the Los Angeles Rams.

Chris Jones was a potential entry at defensive tackle and made the All-AFC team but he was also left out of the bigger honor when squeezed out by Aaron Donald of the L.A. Rams and Cam Heyward of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rookie Creed Humphrey was the lone center on the AFC’s roster but lost out to Travis Kelce‘s older brother Jason, who had a stellar year as the Philadelphia Eagles center.

Speaking of Kelce, even he was left off of the AFC’s roster because of Mark Andrews‘ strong season with the Baltimore Ravens, which is silly that the best in the business doesn’t make even an all-conference team.

It also needs to be said that Patrick Mahomes didn’t make any team at all with Aaron Rodgers taking home top honors on the All-NFL team and Joe Burrow representing the AFC’s team.

The good news for the Chiefs is that they are at least still playing long after some of these other award winners were forced to go home.
