Coming into the game, it felt like an issue among fans of the Kansas City Chiefs that some of us were overthinking the game.

Some fans said they were nervous about a matchup in which the Chiefs only three weeks ago by 26 points. They were concerned about Big Ben’s back against the wall or what Mike Tomlin might do with house money. It was the result of too much time to analyze and then overanalyze the matchup.

It seems as if the Chiefs coaching staff suffered from the same fate this week. Instead of going with what naturally worked so well for them the last time out, the Chiefs came out with an odd offensive game plan that led them to leave the first quarter with zero points (and they still have none as of press time midway through eh second quarter). I

nstead, it’s T.J. Watt who has been a wrecking ball at defensive end who has single-handedly put the Chiefs on the ropes. Watt was dealing with an injury during the last matchup and despite the fact that he was active and playing, he wasn’t much of a concern for the Chiefs offensively as the team rolled to an easy victory. This time, however, Watt has been anywhere and everywhere.

Early in the game, he helped force an interception of Patrick Mahomes when he tipped a pass that Devin Bush came down with. Check out this play in the first quarter that helped keep the Chiefs from scoring:

After that, the Chiefs own weird play-calling and miscues made it hard enough but Watt finished the job. On an odd second-down call in the second quarter, the Chiefs called a Wildcat play with Mecole Hardman handing off to Darrel Williams who lost the ball twice. Watt picked it up and ran it in for a score and, so far, the only points of the entire game.

Twitter went crazy following these plays, of course, with calls for Watt to win Defensive Player of the Year and then some,.

Next. Six encouraging signs from Chiefs v. Steelers. dark
